Welcome to Chase Grammar School - an academic and caring community for 2-19 year olds, with a small family feel. We have big ambitions and a big heart for all of our students.
We offer a broad curriculum for the 21st century which promotes the academic achievement, personal development and global citizenship of all students at A Level, GCSE, and at all stages throughout our school, in small, focused classes.
Our distinctive Chase Passport is used by students throughout the school to set themselves challenges and to plan personal targets to develop each of nine character strengths which we believe are central to success in the 21st century:

We are proud to be an academic school where students expect to achieve and are supported, stimulated and stretched through our wide and challenging curriculum. Our dedicated teaching staff know each student very well and strengths and areas for extension are developed in small, focused classes.
Curriculum
We teach a stimulating, personalised curriculum designed to promote the academic achievement and personal development of all students in small focused classes from nursery to A Level, culminating in public examinations at GCSE and A Level. IELTS and the International Foundation Diploma are offered to internationalstudents.
Our curriculum includes the core areas of:

Physical Education, Sport, Wellbeing and Careers
Optional subjects include Business, Computer Science, Economics, Photography, Psychology, Sports Science and a choice of modern languages.
Students are introduced to a range of learning strategies through the Learning Toolbox programme run by their Academic Mentors, and enjoy an offer of over 60 different enrichment activities each week. A wide range of school trips and special events is also part of every student's experience at Chase.
International students may join the school as part of our "Pre A Level" programme, where they spend a year being educated alongside British studentsbefore starting A levels.InYear 13, international students have the opportunity to study the International Foundation Diploma as an alternativeroute to universityentrance.
We recruit specialist tutors to cater forinterests students have outside our core offer, so please do contact us if you would like to study a course that we have not offered in the past, and we will be pleased tohelp.




Academic Mentoring
EachstudenthasanAcademicMentorwhomeetswiththem everymorning and holdsregularone-to-onetutorialsfocusing on academic progress and individualised pastoral support. Students are trained to develop the skills of self-assessment and targetsetingby working closely with teachers and senior staff, as theyprogress fromBronze throughtoSilver and Gold on our personalised monitoringsystem.
In Year 13, Chase Grammar School students meet weekly with Senior Academic Mentors from the Leadership Team to challenge them to be ambitious with their dreams and plans. This close dialogue enables us to focus students on every important detail: choosing university courses; extending themselves through reading, independent study and work experience; writing personal statements, improving time management and utilising effective revisionstrategies.
Recognition
Praise and recognition is an integral part of our positive approach to educating young people. Students are rewarded with House Points, and Bronze, Silver and Gold Visas for achieving targets in their Chase Passport, virtual praise cards sent to parents for progress and achievement,Achievement Assemblies,Principals Distinctions for outstanding work, and our annual Prize-Giving, held in thePrince of Wales Theatre,Cannock.
Oxbridge and University Preparation
We have dedicated staff, including graduates from both Cambridge and Oxford, providing 1:1 mentoring for students who wish to apply to Oxford, Cambridge and other top universities.
Students in Year 11-13 receive weekly guidance about the UCAS process. We also regularly hold university open events at the school and organise trips for students to visit universities.
Extension and Competitions
Parents are impressed by our wide extension and enrichment programme which usually amounts to a choice of over 60 activitieseachweekfor students.
Extension events are offered eachhalf-termfor able,gifted and talented students from each Academic Faculty, and we regularly take part in academic, sports and other competitions, achieving national success in subjects as diverse as Maths, Modern Languages and Art in recent years. We regularly distinguish ourselves in competitions arranged by the ISA (Independent Schools Association).

We believe that developing personal qualities is just as important as academic success because collaboration, creativity, decision making, empathy, global citizenship, integrity, leadership, problem solving and resilience are crucial for a successful life and career in the 2lst century. Our distinctive Chase Passport encourages every student to set personal targets to develop each of these valuable nine characteristics.
Pastoral Care
We provide high quality, individualised pastoral care through a multi-layered approach. Each student has an Academic Mentor who meets with them every morning. Students are also part of a House,with a dedicated Head of House,House Parent and full-time Matron.
As a small community, we get to know each student exceptionally well.We ensure that we communicate regularly with parents through our weekly email, and parents can be sure that we keep a very close eye on the welfare and well-being of every single young personinourcare.

Lee House Parton House Tylecote House
The Houses provide pastoral care for students and organise regular academic, cultural, sporting, musical and other competitions to enrich and extend students'leadership and teamworkskills.
Our House competitions are also a lot of fun, and we allook forward to celebrating the end of each term with whole-school Houseevents!
Enrichment
Studentschoosefromover60differentenrichmentactivities each week, which range from academic extension to developing artistic, sporting and other talents.Our booklet of enrichment and extension activities is updated every term and isavailable as a separatepublication.
Trips
Students at Chasebenefit from a wide-ranging offer of international, national, cultural, educational and leisure trips. Every Saturday day students as well as boarders are invited to join in the weekly outing or leisure activity, and students are regularly taken to participate in academic, sporting and otherinterests and competitions onweekday evenings and at weekends.
Sport, Drama and Music
We pride ourselves on the range of sport we offer in outstanding local facilities, and also on the very high standards we achieve in local and national competitions.We are able to provide for particular individual sporting interest students have - recent examples include archery, golf and kickboxing. A number of our students compete at both national and international level.
Each year we put on alarge-scale drama and musical performance in ThePrince of Wales Theatre, which gives our students the opportunity to experience the excitement and technology of a professional performance space. Recent productions have included The Wizard of \circ_{\mathbb{Z}} andFame!Private drama lessons are also available for students who have a particular theatrical passion.
Music lessons are available on request from visiting instrumental tutors, and we offer a wide range of musical opportunities from traditional choral singing to jazz and rock groups. Our end of term services in St. Luke's Church, Cannock, are always a powerful way to commemorate thechanging seasons.
Student Leadership and Student Council
The Student Leadership programme embraces all aspects of school life. Student Leaders benefit from regular training in leadership skills and are given the responsibility not merely to work with staff specialists and other pupils but also to innovate and contribute to the future development of the school. In recent years, students have launched and led their own enrichment clubs, including Environment Club, Japanese Club, Student Union andFootball Club.
Students are elected to the Student Council by their Houses, and meet with thePrincipal every half-term,where new initiatives are discussed and planned together. Members of the Student Council arepart of ourStudent Leaders team,and we areproud of the independence,maturity and kindness that all our Student Leaders model for the rest of the school community.
Wellbeing, Higher Education and Careers Education
We prepare students for Higher Education and careers through our weekly Wellbeing programme. Students are also taught how to maintain their personal wellbeing, balancing physical, emotional andmentalhealth.


Lee House
Jennie Lee was the MP for Cannock for 30 years,a secretary of state and instrumental in establishing the Open University. Lee House occupies a series of connected buildings around modern courtyards and gardens by the entrance to the school campus.

Parton House
Vernon Parton was a mathematician,inventor and chess master.He studied the works of Lewis Carroll and invented Alice Chess.He was also,afterhis father,Headmasterof CannockGrammar School.Parton House occupies a series of connected houses which run along Convent Close,the mainroadwaythroughtheschool campus.
Tylecote House

Frank Tylecote was born in Cannock and became professor of medicine at the University of Manchester. His research was the first to recognise the link between smoking tobacco and lung cancer. Tylecote is located in the old original school building in the centre of the campus.

We provide a global vision of academic success and cultural understanding at Chase through international visits, our rich integration of British and international students and our assemblies programme.
International Visits
Visits abroad are provided regularly, designed to expand cultural and intellectual horizons.A selection of recent international trips includes Rome, China, CERN in Geneva, and Paris.We have a reputation around the world as a centre forinternational excellence andregularly host short-stayvisiting international school groups who add to the diversity and richness of our students'experiences.
Chase Grammar staff regularly accompany international trips and wherever it is practical we provide international parents' evenings,where the parents of international students can meet senior staff in their home country to receive detailed feedback on their children's progress.
International Assemblies
Chase is proud to have a truly international range of students, and when we meet for our weekly school assembly, the four corners of the world come together as one big family of Chase GrammarSchool students.Students routinely play a leadingrole in our assemblies,and we celebrate the different cultures and festivals important to our students, such as Nowruz and Chinese NewYear.
International Integration
Through the house system,British and international students mix socially and in teams. All students can use the House Common Rooms before school, at breaks, at lunch-time and after school, where there are comfortable sofas,leisure and refreshment facilities.
House competitions ensure that students mix across year groups as well as cultures, to work together on collaborative and competitive projects such as the Debating Competition, "Chase Has Got Talent".





Boarding at Chase Grammar School
The boarding houses are staffed by a full-time matron during the day and by residential staff in the evenings, and both day and international students integrate in the relaxing Common Rooms at break times.
Accommodation
Boarders live in homely, comfortable bedrooms, offen sharing with one or two otherboarders, and occasionally in a single bedroom. Each bedroom is furnished, and boarders are welcome to personalise their space so that it is a true homeaway-from-home.
All boarders have access to house kitchens, Common Rooms and other facilities around the school during evenings, weekends,and half term holidays.Twice-weekly laundry is provided on site, and medical care is also available.
Trips & Activities
There is a varied and exciting programme of weekend and holiday trips which boarders are welcome to take part in.
Popular trips include city visits to Birmingham, Liverpool, Manchester, Oxford etc., as well as leisure activities such as gokarting and quad biking.We also provide a more sedate and cultural experience with canal boating, museum visits and local countrysidewalks.
Every evening the school Sports Hall is open for boarders to play badminton, basketball, football or other activities.Boarders can also make use of the dedicated Art and Music facilities at school to help prepare for exams or just to relax. The local town provides a world-class gym, golf course, sports fields, cinema and shops, and boarders are able to make use of these exceptional facilities,withparental permission.
Guardianship
A special feature of Chase Grammar School is that we can provide guardianship services for our boarders. There are no ‘exeats' and so boarders can stay at school without having to packup and go to a guardian every half term.
Boarders are welcome to stay at school during the half term holidays, during which a range of activities are provided, and boarders can enjoy the facilities on site and in the local area.

Lyncroft House Preparatory School
At Lyncroft House Preparatory School our calm, purposeful and happy atmosphere is appreciated by all who attend and visit. Small class sizes allow for exceptional pastoral care which leads to academic success and rapid personal development for all our children. Our teachers' high standards, positive approach and dedication ensures that all our children's individual needs are met in a learning environment that nurtures and sparks inquisitiveness allowing every child to thrive
Adventurers (Age 2-3)
Nursery and Reception: Age 3-5
Our safe and stimulating Adventurers'provision caters for eight children and this intentionally small number means that each child receives premium quality care and attention throughout the day.
Each child is designated a key member of staff who is responsible for tailoring their care to respond to their individual needs and interests.
We offer two excellent spaces to support our Adventurers' development: a learning classroom with a quiet sleeping space and changing facilities and an outdoor enclosed garden with conservatorythatprovidesanexciting exploratoryspaceforfree flow play.
Our friendly, experienced and nurturing staff ensure that our Adventurers are happy, safe and always curious to learn.
Nursery and Reception enjoy structured Literacy and Numeracy learning activities every morning which are delivered to ensure high levels of engagement and learning.
We follow the EYFS curriculum and our Infant team pride themselves on their knowledge of each child in their care and love to celebrate their achievements and success.
"Tapestry” is our means of recording their milestones with parents and this system strengthens our ongoing dialogue with parents about each child's learning.
Our Nursery students flourish in our free flow classroom, learning through play in their indoor and external learning environments,developing their self-confidence,resilience and problem-solving skills.

KS1 - Infants (Years 1 & 2: Age 5-7)
Our Infant classes enjoy specialist teaching in Music, PE, Games and Gymnastics. Years 1 and 2 also participate in French lessons with our Languages Faculty beginning their passport to learning about other cultures-one of our key values of "Global Citizenship".
Kindness,respect,achievement and good manners are at the heart of our approach to personal development at this age. Positive rewards for listening carefully, empathy towards others and excellent table manners are consistently awarded by all staff.
KS2 - Juniors (Year 3-6: Age 7-10)
Our Years 3-6 children benefit from a challenging, diverse and broad curriculum. A core team of qualified Preparatory teachers lead the curriculum that is also supported by specialist senior school teaching in a range of subjects (typically Computer Science,French,Humanities,Mandarin,Physical Education and Science) ensuring that all our children receive the support and challenge they need to develop and progress.
Years 5 and Year 6 enjoy their Science lessons in our laboratories and relish the opportunity to carry out practical experiments.
Junior children participate fully in House events,fundraising for their House charities and engaging in competitions such as the Egg Drop and Catapult Science challenges, Chase Has Got Talent and Sports Day, to name but a few!
From Year 3 all students begin their Chase Passport journey to developing character by seing targets both personal and social to support theirpersonal development.
Lyncroft House Enrichment and Extension
All of our Lyncroft House students enjoy a rich and vibrant programme of Enrichment clubs.These take place every day and changeevery term.
Juniorstudents are invited to ourhalf-termly,faculty-led Able Gifted and Talented opportunities which encourage problemsolving skills,creativity and resilience.
Finally,we run a comprehensive Student Leader Programme to develop students' sense of collective responsibility, empathy and leadership skills.
