塔鐘,是復(fù)興路校區(qū)標(biāo)志性文物,也是上?,F(xiàn)存最早的塔鐘。安放
塔鐘的鐘樓建于 1909 年,距今已有百余年,現(xiàn)為復(fù)興路校區(qū)校史館。
The clock tower is a significant cultural relic of the Fuxing
Road campus and also the earliest surviving clock tower in
Shanghai. The clock building was built in 1909, which was
built a hundred years ago, and is now the History Pavilion
of Fuxing Campus.

上海理工大學(xué)是一所以工學(xué)為主,工學(xué)、理學(xué)、經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)、
管理學(xué)、文學(xué)、法學(xué)、藝術(shù)學(xué)等多學(xué)科協(xié)調(diào)發(fā)展的上
海市屬重點應(yīng)用研究型大學(xué),是上海市首批 “高水平
地方高校” 建設(shè)試點單位 。學(xué)校設(shè)有 18 個學(xué)院(部),
現(xiàn)有全日制在校生 27000 余人,其中本科生 16000
余人,研究生 11000 余人。現(xiàn)有教職工 2700 余人,
其中中國科學(xué)院、中國工程院院士 7 人(含雙聘),
國家級人才 73 人次,省部級人才 316 人次,高級職
稱教師 974 人,博士生導(dǎo)師 430 人。學(xué)校是國內(nèi)最
早開辦國際合作辦學(xué)的高校之一,建有中英國際學(xué)院
和中德國際學(xué)院 2 個中外合作辦學(xué)機(jī)構(gòu)。
The University of Shanghai for Science and
Technology (USST) is a municipal multidisciplinary
key applied research-oriented university with
engineering as its core, where engineering, science,
economics, management, literature, law, art and
other disciplines are well in coordinated
development. USST has become a pilot unit for the
construction of “a high-level local institution of higher
education” in Shanghai. There are altogether 18
schools, colleges and departments with more than
27,000 full-time students, including more than
16,000 undergraduate students and more than
11,000 graduate students. Of its 2,700 faculty & staff
members, there are 7 academicians of Chinese
Academy of Sciences, and Chinese Academy of
Engineering (adjunct academicians included), 73
national-level talents, 316 provincial or
ministerial-level talents, 974 teachers with senior
titles, and 430 doctoral supervisors. One of the
earliest institutions of higher education in mainland
China to set up international joint programs, USST
has established two Sino-foreign joint educational
institutions, namely, the Sino-British College and
Sino-German College.
上海理工大學(xué)中英國際學(xué)院是 2006 年經(jīng)教育部批準(zhǔn)
成立的非獨立法人中外合作辦學(xué)機(jī)構(gòu),由上海理工大
學(xué)攜手謝菲爾德大學(xué)、利茲大學(xué)等英國高校共同創(chuàng)辦。
學(xué)院采用 “一對多” 合作辦學(xué)模式,主要實施本科層
次學(xué)歷學(xué)位教育和外國學(xué)士學(xué)位教育。2019 年,學(xué)
院成為聯(lián)合國 “責(zé)任管理教育原則”(PRME)高級簽
署成員;2019 年,學(xué)院電子信息科學(xué)與技術(shù)專業(yè)獲
批上海市一流本科專業(yè)建設(shè)點; 2021 年,學(xué)院獲國
際精英商學(xué)院協(xié)會(AACSB)會員資格;2022 年,
學(xué)院全部工科專業(yè)通過英國工程技術(shù)學(xué)會(IET)認(rèn)證,
是上海市首個有工科專業(yè)通過 IET 認(rèn)證的大學(xué)學(xué)院;
2023 年,學(xué)院學(xué)術(shù)英語課程通過英國皇家特許語言
家學(xué)會(CIOL)認(rèn)證;2023 年,學(xué)院成功獲得歐洲
管理發(fā)展基金會(EFMD)會員資格。
The Sino-British College (SBC) was fully licensed as
a joint venture institute by the Ministry of Education
of the People's Republic of China (MoE) in 2006. As
an embedded international university college of the
University of Shanghai for Science and Technology
(USST), SBC was co-established by USST and
British universities namely University of Sheffield,
University of Leeds, etc. SBC implements bachelor's
degree education and international bachelor's
degree education. SBC became an advanced
signatory to PRME in 2019; Electrical and Electronic
Engineering of SBC was approved First-Class
Provincial Undergraduate Major Construction Sites
in 2019; SBC officially became the member of
AACSB in 2021; SBC was awarded IET
Accreditation for all the Engineering programmes in
2022 and became the first college with IET
Accreditation of Engineering programmes in
Shanghai. SBC awarded CIOL Validated
Programme for EAP programmes in 2023. SBC
officially became the member of EFMD in 2023.

The School of Business and Management of SBC offers two
undergraduate degree programmes: Business Management with
Sheffield Hallam University and Events Management with
University of Huddersfield.
國際認(rèn)證
Accreditation
2021年,管理學(xué)院獲國際精英商學(xué)院協(xié)會(AACSB)會員資格,目前已進(jìn)
入認(rèn)證的最后階段,即將獲得AACSB認(rèn)證,躋身全球頂尖商學(xué)院之列。

The School of Business Management of SBC officially became a
member of AACSB in 2021. It is about to obtain AACSB accreditation
and become one of the top business schools in the world. The School
of Business Management of SBC officially became a member of EFMD
and has initiated EFMD accreditation in 2023.

Sheffield Hallam University offers an undergraduate
degree in Business Management at the Sino-British
College. The length of the programme is four years of
full-time study. Upon successful completion of the
programme, students will be awarded a Bachelor of
Arts degree with Honours in Business Management
from Sheffield Hallam University.

What will I learn?
大一學(xué)年,主要有學(xué)術(shù)英語課程。旨在提升學(xué)生進(jìn)行專
業(yè)學(xué)習(xí)所必需的英語聽、說、讀、寫四個方面的能力。此
外,大一學(xué)年課程還包括商務(wù)、經(jīng)濟(jì)及數(shù)學(xué)等相關(guān)課程,
這將有助于學(xué)生順利完成大二至大四學(xué)年學(xué)位階段的
專業(yè)課學(xué)習(xí)。
大二學(xué)年,工商管理專業(yè)課程主要為專業(yè)入門課程,包
括管理學(xué)原理、財務(wù)會計學(xué)與商務(wù)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)。學(xué)生還將學(xué)
習(xí)商務(wù)技能等相關(guān)課程,這些課程是獲得學(xué)位必須完

The first year comprises of the English for Academic
Purposes (EAP) programme, which is designed to
give you the necessary skills in all 4 language areas
(reading, writing, listening, and speaking). This is
carefully integrated with content from modules in
the disciplines of Business, Economics and
Mathematics to fully prepare you for years two to
four of the degree.
In the second year, you will start to take the typical
modules in the field of business management,
including Management Themes, Finance and
Accounting, and Business Economics. You will also
take a Business Skills module to support the
development of an academic approach to your
studies, necessary for the degree awarding years
three and four.
In the third year, you'll study core areas of business
management including strategic planning, financial
fluency for management decision making, integrated
marketing communications and international business.
In the final year, core modules include Implementing
Strategy and Change, Marketing in a Global Context
and Financial Performance Management. You will
also study a module which is aimed at developing
Leadership Skills for Contemporary Organisations as
well as a specialist and highly relevant module about
managing a Digital Enterprise.

This course offers a wide range of career

The first year comprises the English for Academic
Purposes (EAP) programme, which is designed to
give you the necessary skills in all four language
areas (reading, writing, listening, and speaking).
This is carefully integrated with content from

In the second year, you will start to take typical
modules found in the field of Events Management
including Introduction to the Events Industry Managing
Events and Organisational Behavior.
ln the third year, you'll study core areas of Events
Management including Managing the Live Event,
Design for Events, Consumer Behaviour–Experiential
Marketing, and Human Resource Management for
Events.
In the final year, modules include Global Events and
Festivals, Creativity and Innovation in Context, and
Global Business Strategy among others.

講座、小組項目、業(yè)界考察、現(xiàn)場實踐和現(xiàn)場管理活動

You will learn through lectures, seminars, group
projects, industry visits, practical work and
managing live events. The opportunity to gain
practical experience of Events Management is a
key feature of this course. This is achieved by

fieldwork visits, volunteer work experience,
staging of events on campus and off campus in
the final year.

Shiwen LU, Class of 2022 in Business Management,
is currently studying at the University of Manchester.
During her time at SBC, she was honoured to
present her dissertation project at the SIBR (Society
of Interdisciplinary Business Research) 2022 Seoul
Conference. Shiwen won SIBR Best Paper Award
with her paper titled “An Investigation into the
Relationship between Experiential Marketing,
Customer Engagement and Brand Loyalty in the
Fashion Industry”.
Lee Henderson博士是上海理工大學(xué)中英國際學(xué)院管理學(xué)院主任,作

Dr. Lionel Huntley Henderson is Head of the School of Business
and Management and Senior Lecturer of SBC. As a researcher and
editor, he has long been involved in research on sustainable
development strategies in educational management of the
Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), an
initiative supported by the United Nations.
Dr. Henderson, as the first author, published a high-quality
research paper titled \"Principles for Responsible Management
Education in 2068\" in Futures (SSCI-Q1). Based on the UN PRME
initiative, the paper explored the goals for sustainable development
of education over the next 50 years and conducted in-depth
multidisciplinary research on the overall framework, policy
implementation and specific goals of the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs) of the UN.
Dr. Henderson’s research on sustainable development in
education, talent development, international education, and social
responsibility and leadership has been highly recognised by
researchers and academic institutions over the globe, which fully
demonstrates that some of the research fields of the SBC
community have entered the world's leading ranks. Currently, he
has been doing research on the situation and difference of health
care in rural Canada and more fields, as well as digitization and
connected healthcare.

The first year comprises the Year 1 English for
Academic Purposes (EAP) programme, designed to
give you the necessary skills in all four language areas
(reading, writing, listening and speaking). This is
carefully integrated with the content modules in
Physics, Engineering Mathematics and Further
Mathematics to fully prepare you for years 2-4 of the
degree.
The second year introduces students to the pillars of
electrical and electronic engineering, with modules
such as Analogue Electronics, Digital Electronics,
Software Engineering, and Professional Practice.
The third year progresses into the discipline, with
in-depth courses on Linear Electronics, Digital and
Embedded Systems, Instrumentation, Communication
Systems, and Electric Machines. Advanced Engineering
Mathematics is also a part of the curriculum at this
stage.
The programme's final year brings more specialised
modules like Automation and loT, Engineering
Management, Process Control, and Power
Electronics. Students undertake a final-year project to
consolidate their learning and apply their knowledge in
a practical context.

The first year comprises the Year 1 English for Academic

modules in mechanical engineering, including

thermodynamics, and mechanics of materials and

your mechanical designs into the industrial environment.
In the third year, modules for this programme include
Materials and Processes, Engineering Practice,
Mechatronics, Mechanical and Thermals Systems, and
Design and Manufacture. Students will also study
advanced Engineering Mathematics and be introduced
to modelling and simulation.
In the fourth year, you must complete modules including
Engineering Analysis with simulation software,
Dynamics and Control and Industrial Management.

In recent years, the Sino-British College has attached
great importance to scientific research innovation, and
lecturers and students have frequently published
high-level papers in international authoritative

Dr. Muhammad Shemyal Nisar, Lecturer of School of
Engineering and Computing, his research focused on
integrated photonic devices, lithium niobate,
silicon-based devices, and optical application
materials, etc. And he has produced remarkable and
comprised six high-level papers in the SCI Q1 journals
and Q2 journals in just a few months.

19 Huayi SHENG, Class of 2023 in Electrical and
Electronic Engineering of SBC published a paper
entitled \"Deep Learning on FPGAs Based on FINN
Framework\" in International Core Journal of
Engineering. The paper. The paper aimed to extend
and train a neural network and implement a hardware
accelerator on the PYNQ-Z1 platform by using the
FINN framework. This study mainly focused on the
PYNQ platform and the evaluation of the accelerator’s
model performance and inference time, covering the
essential theoretical background and different
FPGA-based machine learning accelerator designs.

2023年2月10日,國際頂級期刊《科學(xué)》(Science)發(fā)表了上海理工大
學(xué)中英國際學(xué)院參與的重大科研成果“奧杜韋文化時期地理分布的拓
展及古人類和傍人的飲食策略”。中英國際學(xué)院原執(zhí)行院長、現(xiàn)任利物
浦約翰摩爾大學(xué)副校長勞拉·畢夏普(Laura Bishop)教授在學(xué)院工作
期間作為主要研究人員參加了該項研究,為論文第五作者。
此項研究揭示了早在約300萬年前,早期人類開始使用工具準(zhǔn)備食
物,并將奧杜韋石器(Oldowan tools)遺址范圍擴(kuò)大了1300余公里,
推翻了長期以來科學(xué)家們認(rèn)為“奧杜韋石器是由現(xiàn)代人類的直系祖
先直立人制造和使用”的這一理論。與相距800英里的埃塞俄比亞萊迪-格拉魯(Ledi-Geraru)地區(qū)出土的260萬年前的奧杜韋石器相

10 February 2023, a major study titled “Expanded geographic
distribution and dietary strategies of the earliest Oldowan
hominins and Paranthropus” was published on the journal
Science with the participation of SBC. Professor Laura
Bishop, Former Principal of SBC made significant contribution
to this research as the fifth author during her contribution at
the college.
Scientists have unearthed fossil sites near Lake Victoria in
Southern Kenya and expand this distribution by over 1300
kilometers. The fossils are the oldest discovered “pebble tools”,
also known as Oldowan tools, by some 3,000,000 years, used to
process plant and animal materials. There’s even direct
evidence that the tools were used to butcher hippo and bovine
carcasses, the earliest evidence of this behaviour. Alongside
were found the oldest known fossils of Paranthropus, a human
ancestor species from the early Pleistocene period. The
evidence directly associates Paranthropus with the tools, and
this challenges the more traditional narrative that Oldowan
technology appeared with the arrival of early Homo, who were
our direct ancestors.

The School of Languages, Education and Cultures
provides stimulating and fulfilling language courses to
help students fully develop their English and Chinese
language skills. These courses primarily focus on
language in an academic context and are designed to
support students in their main areas of study at
university.
Our students study in small classes, typically 16
students in a class, in multimedia classrooms or the
language lab. Interactive teaching methods and
modern equipment are used to stimulate students'
learning interest and motivation, and enhance
students' learning experience and confidence.
In addition to our academic English courses, we also

The School of Languages, Education and Cultures
was awarded Validated Programme status for our
English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programme in
2023 by the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL).
This demonstrates our programme and the School are
of high quality and meet internationally recognised
standards in language teaching. The English for
Academic Purposes grades obtained by students at
the Sino-British College are recognized by more than
50 universities around the world.

EAP Programme
學(xué)術(shù)英語課程是每位大一學(xué)生必須修讀的課程。學(xué)術(shù)英語課程采用小班化課堂教學(xué)模式,學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)學(xué)術(shù)英語
課程的時間為每周8個小時,旨在提升學(xué)生學(xué)術(shù)英語能
力,為其順利完成大學(xué)學(xué)業(yè)所具備的英語語言技能打下
堅實基礎(chǔ)。
Year 1 students study our EAP programme. Students
study for eight hours each week in small classes to
develop the English language skills that are required
to engage with university study successfully in an
English speaking environment.

What will you learn?
學(xué)術(shù)英語課程側(cè)重于語言的各個方面,如語法、詞匯或
發(fā)音,以及大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)所需的特定語言用途。其中包括學(xué)
術(shù)寫作、閱讀和研究、聽力和筆記、研討會和討論技巧。
The classes focus on aspects of language such as
grammar, vocabulary or pronunciation in an academic
context, and the specific language uses needed for
university study. These include academic writing,
reading and research, listening and note-taking, and
seminar and discussion skills.
考核評估
Assessment
學(xué)生完成閱讀、寫作、聽力和口語的作業(yè)和考試,每項考
試的權(quán)重為50%。聽說課程包括學(xué)生聽播客和講座,以
及記錄重要觀點和思考,學(xué)生需要用批判性思維評估所
記錄的資料和信息,并對相關(guān)問題進(jìn)行分析和解答。學(xué)
生還需要通過參與課堂討論、演講、小組討論等方式發(fā)
言,并清晰地陳述自己的觀點和想法。
閱讀和寫作課程大體相同,包括學(xué)生閱讀三篇學(xué)術(shù)文章

學(xué)生需要寫一篇論文,并做出深入的分析和總結(jié)。
考試側(cè)重于學(xué)術(shù)背景下的閱讀和聽力理解,而口語和寫
作考試側(cè)重于英語水平。
Students complete both coursework and exams, each
of which are weighted at 50%, for reading, writing,
listening and speaking. The listening and speaking
coursework involves students listening to podcasts
and lectures, taking notes of the ideas and themes
they hear and then critically evaluating the information
in their notes to answer a question. They then do a
presentation to answer the question.
The reading and writing coursework is similar and
involves students reading three academic texts and
taking notes then critically evaluating the notes to
answer an essay question.
Students are required to write an essay and
make an in-depth analysis and summary.
The exams focus on reading and listening
comprehension in an academic context while the
speaking and writing exams focus on English
language proficiency.

Our well qualified academic team, with multi-cultural background
and solid academic background, offer high-quality international
education to our students. Currently, SBC has 120 lecturers from
20 different countries and regions. International lecturers
account for 70% of the academic team. Most of lecturers hold a
doctoral degree from a well-known university and have rich
teaching and research experience.

Since 2006, the academic and administrative operations of
SBC-USST have been underpinned by a strategy of
internationalisation. Its academic programmes are taught by
international lecturers who are culturally sensitive to Chinese
student’s needs – all while adopting an international perspective to
promote reform in higher education and pedagogy. The
strategy of internationalisation strengthens high-level international
cooperation, educational exchange and internal stakeholder
development (i.e., student, staff, faculty and alumni) – that
contributes to the national development strategy of Shanghai to
create ‘Five Centres’, in terms of regional innovation and
development. SBC proudly promotes the mission of cultivating
students to become international ambassadors of China
domestically as well as in both foreign countries and multinational

SBC has 13 cohorts of graduates.
In the past decade, 82.3% of graduates chose to continue
their studies, 46.7% of whom were admitted to the top 50

the graduates who choose direct employment, 24% work
in well-known enterprises and institutions at home and

Haofeng graduated from the University of Leeds, and
obtained a master's degree from the University
College London in 2021. Currently, he is studying for a
doctoral degree at the University of Manchester.
SBC has laid a good foundation of British education for me
so that I can quickly integrate into the study and life in the
UK after going abroad.
