Journey

Week 1
Mount Huangshan-a Must to Visit
Going to Mount Huangshan reminds me of the popular Beatles’ song "The Long and Winding Road". What is so breathtaking? about the experience is the out-of-this-world? scenes. The rolling sea of clouds you see once you are at the top will remind you how tiny we humans are.
The hot spring at the foot of the mountain is something you must try after the climb. It will undoubtedly help you get refreshed?! The amazing thing about the spring is that the colder the temperature gets the hotter the spring! Strange, isn't it? But that's how nature is—always leaving us astonished.
What comes next is the endless series of steps. You can't help wondering how hard it was for the people then to put all those rocks into place. Though it is the only unnatural thing on your way up the mountain, still it highlights? the whole adventure and offers a place where you can sit down to rest your aching legs.
As the song goes, this long and winding road will never disappear, and it will always stick in^{registered} the visitors' memory. It sure does in mine. While you're in China, Mount Huangshan is a must? to visit.
文章用語優(yōu)美而簡潔,使用了很多 形容詞和副詞來描述自然景色和作者感受,如前兩段中的 long and winding、 breathtaking、out-of-this-world、rolling、tiny、hot、refreshed、amazing、 astonished 等。此外,作者還運用了一些精妙的動詞,如 remind of、can't help wondering、highlight、stick in等。 文中句式的表達也是豐富多樣的,如 what 引導(dǎo)的主語從句:“What is so breathtaking about the experience is the out-of-this-world scenes.”;由 something 作先行詞,省略了that的定語從句: "The hot spring at the fot of the mountain is something you must try after the climb."; the ^+ 比較級..the ^+ 比較級的比較狀語從句:“thecolder the temperature gets the hotter the spring";反義疑問句“Strange, isn't it?";在由 though引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句中,又套用一個由關(guān)系副詞where引導(dǎo)的定語從 句 :"Though it is the only unnatural thing on your way up the mountain, still it highlights the whole adventure and offers a place where you can sit down to rest your aching legs.”

Week 2
Kindness Brought by Travel
Travel does have some dangers, but there is a kindness that coats every corner of the world.
In almost every city, we have found kind-hearted people that have either opened their hearts or their homes. My friend Agelika is one of them.
When I was a teenager, I got lost in a foreign country. I was in Berlin, Germany, on my month-long overseas study tour in Europe. My team and I had one night to spend there. However, while most of them decided to stay indoors and relax, I did not want to miss the chance to explore Berlin.

I visited many major attractions around the city that night. When exhaustion set in^{registered} , I checked the time on my watch, it was two o'clock in the morning!
Quickly, I walked to a subway station. As I got a subway ticket back to the hotel, I realized that it was my father's birthday—the first birthday I couldn't celebrate with him because he had passed away a few months earlier. Before I could begin reminiscing about my father, I heard train wheels screeching to a stop.
I dashed onto the train. At first, I was thankful to have made it onto the train. But that relief quickly turned to panic when I noticed that the train was heading in the wrong direction!
I looked around the nearly empty carriage and saw a girl about my age sitting quietly by the window and then I approached her.
"Hi, do you speak English? I'm lost. Can you help me?" I asked, showing my ticket to her.
It was good luck that the girl understood my problem. She tried to tell me how to return to where I had first gotten on the train. But my anxious mind couldn't follow her instructions.
Without thinking, I blurted out?, “Can you come with me?"
Her face froze at my ridiculous? request. Noticing her surprised look, I realized my abruptness?, saying shyly, “Sorry. I shouldn't have asked you for that favour. " With those words, I bent my head and tried to reconsider my embarrassing situation. Suddenly, a soft voice came into my ears:“Yeah, I'd like to. I have enough time, anyway." The girl, calling herself Agelika, asked me what had happened to me and was sorry to hear the death of my father. She comforted me and opened her heart to me, telling me her stories. We kept talking as if we had been friends for ages.
We shared our life stories, our heartaches and our hopes for the future. When we got off at the next subway station, she insisted on accompanying me to my destination on another subway. It was 3 a. m. We exchanged our telephone numbers before parting. Believe it or not, our friendship has remained till now. What a world of kindness!
文中運用了許多精彩的動詞來描述事情的發(fā)展和經(jīng)過,同學(xué)們在誦讀時可以重點關(guān)注,如coats every corner of the world、exhaustion set in、begin reminiscing about、screeching to a stop、dashed onto the train、turned to panic、heading in thewrong direction, blurted out, froze at my ridiculous request 等。 ""Her face froze at my ridiculous request. ""a soft voice cameinto my ears”等。
