estabished the Optics Valley Financial Holdings

yuan, and set up 144 industry funds led by OVC,

creating an equity financing chain covering angel

investments, venture capital (VC), private equity

Of the 518 sq km in the East Lake High-tech

Development Zone, the ecological preservation baseline area such as mountains, waters,

forests and farmlands covers about 282 sq

km, 54 percent of the total, and the valley’s

greening rate stands at 42 percent.

The valley has amazing landscapes with the buildings,

lakes and mountains all in perfect harmony. The zone

features 44 impressive mountains, including Yujia

Mountain, Jiufeng Mountain and Longquan Mountain, as

well as nine lakes, including Tangxun Lake, Nanhu Lake,

Yanxi Lake, Baoxie Lake and Niushan Lake.

The valley is home to many parks, including Yunhu Park,

Xiyuan Park, Longshanxi Park, Lanting Park, Huashan

Ecological Wetland Park, and Guanggu Sanlu Wetland

Park, with several pocket parks scattered throughout the

area. In the future, additional parks, including

Huanglongshan Park, Jiufengxi Park, and Huashanhekou

Park, will be constructed.

韻湖公園、西苑公園、龍山溪公園、蘭亭公園、花

山生態(tài)濕地公園、光谷三路濕地公園等多個綜合公

園、口袋公園分布其間，未來還將迎來黃龍山公

A total of 140 km of greenways have been built,

forming a connected greenways system linking

multiple parks, providing eco-friendly, low-carbon and

healthy mode of transportation to the residents of

Optics Valley.

The Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) Prince of Chu’s royal tomb

complex is a national-level cultural relic protection unit,

attractions in Wuhan, and the Lingquan Temple is a

well-known Buddhist temple.

currently 226 primary

and secondary schools and

kindergartens in OVC, including 59

primary and secondary schools and 165

kindergartens. There are 161,000 students enrolled

in OVC and 14,000 staff members, including 47

provincial-level outstanding teachers. In addition,

there are two international schools, Optics Valley

International School and Wuhan Maple Leaf

International School, catering to the children of

foreign nationals and providing high-quality

international education services. The schools in

Optics Valley cooperate with a lot of prestigious

educational institutions, including Huazhong

University of Science and Technology, Central

China Normal University, Yucai School, and other

international schools, forming a cluster of top-tier

schools in basic education. The educational quality

of OVC ranks at the forefront in the city.

OVC has built seven Grade 3A hospitals in China,

including the Tongji Hospital (OVC), the East

Campus of Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University,

the Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Hubei

Province (OVC), the Hospital of Stomatology of

Wuhan University (OVC), the OVC Renmin Hospital,

and the Wuhan Third Hospital (Wuhan Future City).

It has also built two top-ranking children’s

hospitals – OVC Tongji Children’s Hospital and

Wuhan Children’s Hospital (OVC).

Additionally, it plans to build an institution for

disease prevention and control and provide a 120

first aid network.

Wuhan, with new venues constructed and renovated, including the Military Pentathlon Shooting

Range, Gymnasium of the Wuhan Olympic Sports

Center, stadium at Wuhan Vocational College of

Software and Engineering, Optics Valley International Tennis Center, and Yishan Golf Club.

The main event of the Wuhan Open is the

WTA Premier 5 tournament, held every

September at the Optics Valley International

Tennis Center from 2014 to 2028. The Wuhan

Open stands alongside Doha, Rome,

Montreal and Cincinnati, as one of the

world’s five Premier 5 tournaments.
