A group of children are playing football on a field

deep in the mountains of Sichuan Province.

This is the inspiring① story of the girls’ football

team of Wawu Primary School. The school is more than

2,600 meters above the sea level, so it is known as the

“school beyond the clouds”.

In 2019, the school’s headmaster, Qubi Shigu, set

up the girls’ football team. The girls work very hard on

training. “As their skills improve, they become more

confident,” says Qubi Shigu. Jiniu Wuzuo is the team

leader. She can head the ball 500 times in a row after

three years of practice. She keeps a photo of Lionel Messi

in her schoolbag and dreams of becoming a star player

like him.

The school has a motto②: Let the mountain school

become a place for dreams. “I’ll do my part to help the

children realize their dreams,” says Qubi Shigu.

Qubi Shigu began working as a teacher back in 2003.

He had to walk nearly 15 kilometers over the mountains

to reach Wawu Primary School. Although there used to

be a lack③ of water and electricity, he has stayed there

ever since. In 2017, he started a boys’ football team at the

school. Now, every grade has football teams for boys and girls.

Wawu Primary School has become a place for

children to have big dreams of becoming football stars. And

Qubi Shigu hopes that the sports spirit can accompany (陪

Confucius was born

in the Lu Kingdom. When

he was three years old, his

father died. His mother

taught him to read and write

when she worked at home.

Confucius loved reading

She played the leading role in

the dance show Hua Mulan. She

also played Yang Guifei in Du Fu.

Her name is Hao Ruoqi, a member

of the China National Opera and

Dance Drama Theater.

Born in 1993, Hao has become

one of China’s most popular female

(女性的) dancers. Hao started learning dancing

at the age of 7. She entered college in 2011

and became a professional dancer after leaving

school.

In 2017, Hao played the leading role in the

dance show Hua Mulan. It was a great challenge

for her, even though she had much performance

experience. She cried every night when returning

to the hotel during rehearsals (彩排). “At that

time, I thought to myself that I would never

dance again after playing the role of Mulan,” she

said.

Luckily, Hao didn’t give up. She studied

everything about Mulan very carefully. She even

found teachers and learnt Chinese kung fu from

them. In order to perform the action scenes well,

Hao and her partners worked hard to practice the

fighting moves.

The show was a big success. But for Hao, it

was more than just playing the role of a woman

in the army. “The spirit of Mulan has lived in

everyone’s mind from ancient times to now.

We can feel the power (力量) of women from

Mulan. I’m lucky to be able to show it to more

people through dance,” Hao said.

A group of children are playing football on a field

deep in the mountains of Sichuan Province.

This is the inspiring① story of the girls’ football

team of Wawu Primary School. The school is more than

2,600 meters above the sea level, so it is known as the

“school beyond the clouds”.

In 2019, the school’s headmaster, Qubi Shigu, set

up the girls’ football team. The girls work very hard on

training. “As their skills improve, they become more

confident,” says Qubi Shigu. Jiniu Wuzuo is the team

leader. She can head the ball 500 times in a row after

three years of practice. She keeps a photo of Lionel Messi

in her schoolbag and dreams of becoming a star player

like him.

The school has a motto②: Let the mountain school

become a place for dreams. “I’ll do my part to help the

children realize their dreams,” says Qubi Shigu.

Qubi Shigu began working as a teacher back in 2003.

He had to walk nearly 15 kilometers over the mountains

to reach Wawu Primary School. Although there used to

be a lack③ of water and electricity, he has stayed there

ever since. In 2017, he started a boys’ football team at the

school. Now, every grade has football teams for boys and girls.

Wawu Primary School has become a place for

children to have big dreams of becoming football stars. And

Qubi Shigu hopes that the sports spirit can accompany (陪

伴) them throughout their lives.

She played the leading role in

the dance show Hua Mulan. She

also played Yang Guifei in Du Fu.

Her name is Hao Ruoqi, a member

of the China National Opera and

Dance Drama Theater.

Born in 1993, Hao has become

one of China’s most popular female

(女性的) dancers. Hao started learning dancing

at the age of 7. She entered college in 2011

and became a professional dancer after leaving

school.

In 2017, Hao played the leading role in the

dance show Hua Mulan. It was a great challenge

for her, even though she had much performance

experience. She cried every night when returning

to the hotel during rehearsals (彩排). “At that

time, I thought to myself that I would never

dance again after playing the role of Mulan,” she

said.

Luckily, Hao didn’t give up. She studied

everything about Mulan very carefully. She even

found teachers and learnt Chinese kung fu from

them. In order to perform the action scenes well,

Hao and her partners worked hard to practice the

fighting moves.

The show was a big success. But for Hao, it

was more than just playing the role of a woman

in the army. “The spirit of Mulan has lived in

everyone’s mind from ancient times to now.

We can feel the power (力量) of women from

Mulan. I’m lucky to be able to show it to more

people through dance,” Hao said.

For the past 28 years, hairdresser (理發(fā)師) Liu Jianjun and his team

have been volunteering in Changchun, Jilin Province. The 53-year-old has

been helping others since he opened his hairdresser’s in 1994. He and his

3,700-man team of volunteers have given free haircuts to around 80,000

people.

Liu lost his mother when he was 6, and his father left home soon after.

It was his grandmother and his neighbors who raised him. When he opened

the hairdresser’s, he decided to pay back some of the kindness.

Every morning, Liu arrives at his hairdresser’s an hour before opening

to provide free haircuts for people in their 70s. He also spends his spare time

providing door-to-door service for those who have difficulty in walking. The

volunteers on his team sometimes help the old people buy daily needs and

move heavy things. They also offer free haircuts to street cleaners.

Liu’s kindness never stops. Since June 2018, he has been helping

children who have lost their hair because of cancer. He offers free haircuts

to people who would like to give away their hair and collects it. A company

in Shanghai then makes the hair into wigs (假發(fā)) for free. Over 100 children

have received free wigs. “Wearing wigs makes them more confident,” Liu says.

Many of us spent long summer days swimming.

And a group of teenagers from Serbia were no

different. Except for one thing. On those summer days,

they accidentally built a tourist attraction (景點(diǎn)) —

the Drina River House.

In the summer of 1968, a group of boys often went swimming in the

Chen Yuanchun is a teacher at a rural (鄉(xiāng)村的) primary school in

Cangyuan, Yunnan Province. The 44-year-old woman teaches Chinese, but

she is very interested in computer technology. She has introduced coding (編

程) to her students as an important information technology skill.

Chen’s connection to coding began in November 2018. She became

one of the first teachers in Cangyuan to take training courses on coding. The

training was challenging for a beginner like Chen. She needed to learn how

to tell a machine to perform actions and finish tasks (任務(wù)) through different

orders. She worked very hard because she believed this skill would be

useful for her students.

After the training, Chen started a new group in her school to teach the

students coding, but some parents opposed her plan. They didn’t understand

what coding was and thought Chen was teaching their children to play video

So, Chen could only teach students of her own class at first. For teens,

coding does not include writing difficult coding languages. Instead, Chen
